Unified Human Proteome Browser Initiative
Initiative to provide chromosome browser with comprehensive biology or disease perspective of the human proteome launched at HUPO 2014 Madrid and following 11th C-HPP Workshop.
Background
- Data visualization and knowledge-mining becoming more important in the “Big Data” era for proteomics
- Within C-HPP project, a number of browsers have been developed, each with unique strengths
- No known browsers currently offer a comprehensive biology or disease perspective of the human proteome
Vision
To establish a Unified Human Proteome Browser (UHPB) and knowledge-mining system, which is:
- Community-led
- Building on the strengths of existing browsers
- Providing chromosome, biology and disease perspectives
- Transforming and accelerating discovery in proteomics research
- Valued and supported by HUPO and the proteomics community
Benefits
The development of UHPB will:
- Accelerate the Human Proteome Project
- Accelerate and transform research practice in proteomics research
- Facilitate collaboration in proteomics research
- Greatly enhance the sustainability of a browser
