Letter of Young-Ki Paik on Humna Proteome Nature publications in issue 7502

Dear Colleagues

As most of you might have been known, two Nature papers on the human proteome project have been published recently. We congratulate Akhilesh Pandely (Chr 22 PI) and Bernhard Kuster (Munich) as well as their colleagues for these outstanding achievements. In overall, we are also very pleased to see these two papers have followed mostly our current C-HPP working concepts and strategies (e.g., chromosome-centric scafold, missing protein identifications, transcriptomic integrations-nong-coding RNAs, and data sharing through PXD) and demonstrated a model of deliverables for our common endeavors that constitute long-term multi-layerd stuides.

At this juncture, our C-HPP leadership is now working closely with HPP leaders including B/D-HPP groups to bring you an update on our updated plans and directions based on these new resources deposited in PXD and their own databases. After today's HPP EC meeting (9 pm KST) and a few more constructive discussions, we will give you a proposal on ongoing work plans with emphasis on the deep analysis on functional characterization of proteins in each chromosome. This issue will also be discussed extensively in upcoming Sydney Missing protein workshop (July 30, Mark Baker), Bangkok C-HPP Data management workshop (August 9, Bill Hancock) and Madrid HUPO Congress (Oct 5-8). We will be back to you on these updated working plans with more information in next few days.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation on this matter.
Look forward to working with you.

All the Best
Young-Ki, Bill and Gyorgy
